MUTUAL SELF-HELP HOUSING

No Down payment.  sweat equity Galore!

No house payments until construction is completed.  You will not pay rent and house payments at the same time.

House payments are tied directly to your income.  You may qualify for a payment subsidy; if so, USDA Rural Development would pay a portion of your mortgage payment.

The Mutual Self-Help Housing program helps moderate to very low income families build their own homes.  Homeowners build with a group of 8-14 other families to construct all the homes at one time.  No experience in carpentry or construction is required.  Our on-site construction supervision team teaches and supervises everyone during construction!

The mortgage is provided by USDA Rural Development and covers the following: cost of the land – closing cost – construction materials – and all subcontracted labor.

The houses are designed by a professional architect and  Depending on your loan amount, you will be able to choose from several Yamhill CDC approved house plans.  House costs are kept down by purchasing materials in bulk, and homebuilders providing a portion of the labor.
